Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum, Railroad museum in North Judson, Indiana, United States.
The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum is a railway collection in North Judson that displays dozens of restored locomotives, freight cars, passenger cars, and service vehicles. The museum preserves these machines on track and makes their construction and operation visible to visitors.
The museum started in 1988 with a single locomotive and modest beginnings on the grounds of North Judson. The collection grew through donations and restoration work on retired rail equipment from across the Midwest.
The collection tells the story of railroad life in the Midwest through locomotives and rail cars that once served the region. Walking through the grounds, you get a sense of how trains shaped communities and connected people across Indiana.
The best way to explore is on foot along marked pathways between the vehicles stationed on the tracks. Watch your footing on the ground, especially when wet, and wear comfortable shoes for walking over gravel and uneven surfaces.
The grounds house the Grasselli Tower, a former railroad signal and administrative building relocated here for preservation. On the property is also a disassembled turntable awaiting reconstruction, once a key piece of railroad equipment for turning trains around.
