Hotel Syracuse, Hotel in den Vereinigten Staaten
Hotel Syracuse is a building with more than 600 rooms and grand communal spaces in the city. Its three connected towers, ballrooms, and original street-level shops form a connected structure that accommodates guests and visitors.
The hotel opened in 1924 to establish Syracuse as a destination between New York and Chicago, and quickly attracted famous guests like presidents and entertainers. After decades of success, it struggled with ownership issues and closed in 2004, but was later fully renovated and reopened.
The hotel carries the name of a city known for salt springs and reflects Syracuse's role as an important gathering place. The lobby and ballrooms show through their design how the city once attracted visitors from afar and hosted local celebrations.
The building is easy to reach and located at a central street corner in the city, making it accessible on foot. The lobby with high ceilings and large windows is an open and easy-to-navigate environment for visitors.
A large mural from 1948 displays 20 important moments from Syracuse's history, including the discovery of salt springs and a daring jail escape from 1851. This artwork was later hidden beneath shiny panels but was revealed again during recent renovations.
