James Madison University Convocation Center

The James Madison University Convocation Center is an indoor arena located on campus in Harrisonburg. The facility accommodates approximately 6,426 spectators and includes modern sound equipment, meeting rooms, and food service areas for events and sports competitions.

The center opened in 1982 and served as the primary home for James Madison Dukes basketball for decades. When the basketball program relocated to a new arena in 2020, the facility transitioned to training and practice purposes.

The University Program Board regularly schedules concerts at the facility, which has welcomed performers like The Kinks, Third Eye Blind, and Jason Derulo.

The building sits centrally on the university grounds with designated parking areas near the entrance. Access may be limited during certain hours since the space functions primarily as a training facility rather than a public venue.

After basketball operations moved to Atlantic Union Bank Center in 2020, the facility transformed into specialized training grounds for volleyball athletes.
