James Madison University Convocation Center, Indoor sports arena at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, United States
The James Madison University Convocation Center is an indoor arena on the campus of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. It seats around 6,400 people and is equipped with sound systems, meeting rooms, and food service areas.
The center opened in 1982 and was home to James Madison Dukes basketball for several decades. When the team moved to a new arena in 2020, the building shifted toward training and practice use.
The University Program Board regularly hosts concerts here, and acts like The Kinks, Third Eye Blind, and Jason Derulo have performed on this stage. It gives the campus a live music venue that students and locals can attend together.
The building sits centrally on the university grounds and is easy to reach on foot from other campus buildings. Since it now functions mainly as a training facility, access outside of scheduled events may be limited.
After basketball moved to the Atlantic Union Bank Center in 2020, this arena was repurposed specifically for the university's volleyball program. A building that once held thousands of fans now serves as a dedicated training ground for a completely different sport.
