Joseph E. Ibberson Conservation Area
Joseph E. Ibberson Conservation Area, Protected conservation area in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, US.
Joseph E. Ibberson Conservation Area is a protected space covering over 800 acres of hardwood forest with a network of trails winding through mature trees. The natural habitats throughout the land create a connected forest environment.
Joseph E. Ibberson gave this land to Pennsylvania in 1998, which led to its official establishment as a protected area in 2000 under state management. This donation made the preservation of the forest possible for the future.
The land was home to Shawnee, Nanticoke, Lenape, and Iroquois peoples who lived here for thousands of years, leaving traces visible in the landscape. This indigenous presence shaped the region long before it became a protected space.
The area can be reached via PA 225 north from PA 322/22, with the entrance located several miles ahead on Camp Hebron Road. The location sits in a region with straightforward road access through local highways.
This place connects directly to the Appalachian Trail along the northern slope of Peters Mountain, allowing hikers to extend their walks across longer distances. This connection makes it possible to combine different walking routes together.
