Kenosha North Pier Light, Historic lighthouse on Lake Michigan pier in Kenosha, United States
Kenosha North Pier Light is a cylindrical lighthouse painted red with white trim details that rises from the pier entrance. The cast iron structure stands as a solid guide for waterway navigation in the harbor.
The lighthouse was built in 1906 by the Milwaukee Office of Lighthouse to guide ships safely into the harbor. It replaced an earlier navigation station and has marked the waterfront since its construction.
The lighthouse bears the name of the nearby pier and serves as a landmark that defines the harbor's character for visitors and locals. People gather in the area to watch the lake and photograph the distinctive red structure.
Visitors can reach the structure by walking along the pier from nearby Simmons Island. The red signal light flashes regularly and is easiest to see during dusk and evening hours.
Following its private purchase in 2011, the Kenosha Lighthouse Studio added painted murals to the exterior walls. These artistic additions give the historic structure a creative contemporary touch.
