Laurel Hill Cemetery, National Historic Landmark cemetery in East Falls, Philadelphia, United States
Located on 74 acres overlooking the Schuylkill River, Laurel Hill Cemetery features marble monuments, granite mausoleums, and a collection of 6,000 trees.
Founded in 1836 by librarian John Jay Smith, Laurel Hill Cemetery became the second major rural cemetery in the United States after Mount Auburn Cemetery.
The cemetery holds 33,000 graves of notable Philadelphia residents, including generals, politicians, artists, and business leaders from different historical periods.
