Long Ridge Village Historic District, Historic district in Stamford, Connecticut.
Long Ridge Village Historic District is a complex of 66 preserved buildings from different centuries, including residences and two churches. The structures spread along two roads in a hilly area north of Stamford.
The area was an important shoe production center in the 1800s before being added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. That recognition honored the settlement's building and economic importance.
The buildings show features from different building periods, from colonial times through Greek Revival design. You notice these differences when walking through the streets in the details of the facades.
The district sits eight miles north of Stamford's downtown and is best reached by car. You can explore the roads on foot and see the houses and churches clearly from the paths.
The Seth Cook House displays a rare three-story Italianate design, while the Jonas White House preserves colonial design with a side entrance. These two houses stand as distinct examples of different building traditions side by side.
