Lonnie Poole Golf Course, Golf course at North Carolina State University, US.
Lonnie Poole Golf Course is an 18-hole facility on the North Carolina State University campus that spreads across 250 acres of natural landscape. The layout uses existing elevation changes and natural ground features to create a challenging playing experience.
The facility opened in 2009 with design work by the Arnold Palmer Group and serves as home base for the university's golf teams. It came about as a way to create a training center suitable for both competitive play and teaching purposes.
The course brings together golfers and students who work with instructors to improve their skills in a shared learning environment. The connection between sport and education shapes daily life on the grounds and makes it more than just a place to play.
Visitors can use the grounds daily and will find options like swing analysis, private lessons, and group training sessions available on-site. Most golfers should arrive early to secure good tee times and take advantage of ideal playing conditions.
This course was designed by Arnold Palmer himself, making it one of only a handful worldwide created by this legendary professional golfer. The connection to Palmer's expertise and reputation draws golfers interested in playing on grounds shaped by one of the sport's greatest names.
