Magic Grove, Steel sculpture in Enderis Playfield, Milwaukee, US
Magic Grove is a steel sculpture in Enderis Playfield composed of three painted metal trees with colorful canopies arranged in a circular blue plaza. The trunks are made from steel plates while the canopies are constructed from recycled metal and painted in shades of green, blue, red, and yellow.
The sculpture was created by Nancy Metz White in 2006 as part of a renovation project for Enderis Playfield, a recreational space managed by Milwaukee Public Schools. The work emerged from efforts to refresh community parks and bring public art into neighborhood spaces.
The metal trees serve as a gathering point where families and neighbors enjoy time together in a shared space. Local residents use the nearby benches to rest and appreciate the colorful artwork.
The installation is located in a public park and is freely accessible to visitors. The flat circular plaza with surrounding benches provides comfortable viewing and allows you to walk around and examine the sculptures from different angles.
At the top of each metal tree are orange bird forms extending both vertically and perpendicularly from the structure. These whimsical details add a playful quality to the artwork and spark imagination, especially for young visitors.
