Mercer County Park, County park in West Windsor Township, New Jersey, US
Mercer County Park is a county park in West Windsor Township, New Jersey, built around Mercer Lake and featuring athletic fields, tennis courts, walking trails, and picnic areas. The grounds mix open sports facilities with wooded sections and lakeside paths.
The park took shape in the 1960s when the county bought up more than 50 separate parcels of land, many of them working farms. Joining these properties together turned scattered farmland into a single public green space.
The park holds a September 11 memorial that displays a steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center. Visitors often stop there to pay their respects in a quiet, open setting surrounded by trees.
The East Picnic Area has a small number of camping spots, each with a fire ring, picnic table, and charcoal grill, and booking ahead is a good idea. The park has several entry points and paved paths that make most areas reachable for people with limited mobility.
The Finn M.W. Caspersen Rowing Center on Mercer Lake is an official US Olympic Training Site for rowing. On a regular training day, visitors walking along the lake shore can watch competitive rowers out on the water preparing for international events.
