MidAmerican Energy Building, Corporate skyscraper in downtown Davenport, United States
The MidAmerican Energy Building is a 15-story office tower in downtown Davenport that rises 220 feet (67 meters) above the street. Its design stacks nine office floors above a six-level parking garage.
Shive-Hattery Engineers & Architects designed this office building for Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company, with construction completed in 1995. The project represented a significant investment in downtown Davenport's business infrastructure during that decade.
The building connects the business district through a network of skywalks that link it to the RiverCenter and Radisson Hotel. These covered passages shape daily movement through downtown and reflect how the community designed its core for all-weather access.
The building sits at 106 East Second Street in downtown Davenport with convenient public transit access through the CitiBus system. The connected skywalks allow visitors to move between this building and nearby structures without stepping outside.
A pair of peregrine falcons makes its home on the building, nesting among the high perches. These wild raptors use the tower as a hunting ground above the city and show how wildlife adapts to urban spaces.
