Olney, Historic farm complex in Joppa, United States.
Olney is a historic farm complex in Joppa, Maryland, consisting of 15 distinct structures across 264 acres. The site includes a brick mansion, numerous agricultural buildings, and the former Union Chapel School, which now houses St. Alban's Anglican Church.
The main mansion was built in 1810 and incorporates architectural elements salvaged from significant buildings in Baltimore and Philadelphia that were scheduled for demolition. The Union Chapel School was relocated to the property in 1980 and later repurposed as a church facility.
The property takes its name from its original owner and continues to function as a breeding farm for ponies today. Visitors can observe how the grounds blend working agricultural operations with preservation of early 1800s architectural details.
The property is accessible by several pathways that allow visitors to explore the various buildings and agricultural areas at their own pace. The site is best visited during daylight hours when all structures and grounds details are clearly visible.
A marble bas-relief plaque created by artist Pierre L'Enfant for Robert Morris's Philadelphia residence in 1795 remains displayed on the property. This artwork connects the estate to prominent figures in early American history and is rarely noticed by casual visitors.
