Popham Beach, State park beach in Sagadahoc County, United States
The three-mile sandy shoreline stretches from Fort Popham to the Morse River mouth, offering views of Wood Island and Fox Island at low tide.
The location marks the site of the Popham Colony, an English settlement established in 1607 that lasted only one year before its abandonment.
Fort Popham and Fort Baldwin, constructed during the Civil War period, stand as military architecture examples along the Kennebec River entrance.
The beach provides bathhouses, solar rinse-off showers, and charcoal grills, with lifeguards on duty from mid-June through mid-August.
During low tide, visitors can walk across exposed sandbars to reach Wood Island, while maintaining awareness of the returning tide schedule.
