Plaza Towers, Hotel in den Vereinigten Staaten
Plaza Towers is a mixed-use hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan, combining hotel rooms, residential apartments, and condominiums across 34 floors. The 345-foot (105 meter) building features a simple modern design with curved concrete panels and overlooks the Grand River.
Construction began in 1988 and the building opened in 1991 at a cost of about 60 million dollars, initially named Eastbank Waterfront Towers. A major 36 million dollar renovation took place from 1995 to 1997 to address structural cracks and water damage issues.
The building sits near the Grand River on W. Fulton Street, within walking distance of shops, public transportation, and parks. With hotel rooms occupying the lower floors and residential spaces above, visitors can access both hospitality services and view the surrounding downtown area.
The building held the title of Grand Rapids' tallest structure from 1991 until 2008, when River House Condominiums surpassed it. Despite experiencing multiple fires, flooding, and a devastating 2013 flood that filled the basement parking with water, it remains a steady symbol of the city's growth.
