Pine Grove Furnace State Park, State park in Cumberland County, United States.
Pine Grove Furnace State Park is a forest park covering about 696 acres with two lakes and mountains in the South Mountain region. The park features swimming beaches, camping areas, and spaces for fishing and hiking throughout the grounds.
The park's grounds once housed the Pine Grove Iron Works, established in 1764 to produce iron for the region. Remnants of the old furnaces and forges remain scattered across the land today.
The Appalachian Trail Museum occupies a former grist mill and shows how hiking shaped the region's identity and drew people to these mountains. The exhibits reflect the deep connection between walkers and the land they crossed.
The park offers camping from March through December and designated swimming beaches during warmer months at both lakes. Fishing is available year-round, and trails are generally accessible for different fitness levels.
One of the lakes, Fuller Lake, formed in an abandoned quarry that was dug out when mining for iron ore took place here. Today this small body of water is a popular spot for swimmers and anglers, where industrial history meets recreation.
