Reynolds Coliseum, multi-purpose arena in Raleigh, North Carolina, U.S.
Reynolds Coliseum is a large arena on NC State's campus in Raleigh used for sports, concerts, and gatherings. The building seats around 5,500 people and features modern facilities including LED lighting, air conditioning, team offices, and a grand hall for events.
The arena opened in 1949 and was one of the largest basketball venues in the Southeast when it first started. After World War II and several renovations, particularly a major update starting in 2013, it has maintained its role as a center for important sports events and cultural moments.
The name honors William Neal Reynolds, a textile publisher who suggested building a community gathering space. Today, photos, plaques, and a Walk of Fame inside remind visitors of the athletes and moments that shaped this place.
Plan to arrive early to explore the arena and visit the Grand Hall and Walk of Fame. Since seating was reduced and positioned closer to the court, visitors can see and feel the action from almost anywhere in the building.
The building went without air conditioning for decades, making concerts and events in summer months extremely hot and uncomfortable. This changed only in 2016 when air conditioning was finally installed during a major renovation.
