Public School No. 111, Historic school building in Baltimore, Maryland.

Public School No. 111 stands as a brick structure with an ornately detailed front façade featuring Romanesque architectural elements and design principles.

Built in 1889 as Colored School #9, this educational institution provided learning opportunities for African American students with African American teachers during segregation.

The school bears the name of Francis Ellen Harper, a Baltimore-born African American poet who contributed to literature and education in the 19th century.

Located at the intersection of N. Carrollton Avenue and Riggs Avenue in Baltimore, the school building occupies 0.4 acres of land space.

The structure maintains its original Romanesque brick design elements, marking it as one of the few remaining educational buildings from its period in Baltimore.
