Statue of Billie Holiday, Bronze memorial on Pennsylvania Avenue, Baltimore, US.

The 8.5-foot bronze sculpture shows Billie Holiday holding a microphone, mounted on a 20,000-pound solid granite base with inscribed panels.

Artist James Earl Reid received the commission for this sculpture in 1977, but financial disputes delayed its completion until 1985, with final base installation in 2009.

The monument features panels depicting scenes from Holiday's songs 'Strange Fruit' and 'God Bless the Child', addressing racial injustice in America.

The statue stands at 1400 Pennsylvania Avenue in Baltimore, near several hotels and cultural sites related to African American heritage.

The granite base contains sculptural panels showing a lynching scene and a black child with an umbilical cord, representing themes from Holiday's music.
