Shenipsit Lake, body of water
Shenipsit Lake is an artificial reservoir in Connecticut covering more than 500 acres, surrounded by trees and open land. The lake has calm waters and is managed by the Connecticut Water Company to supply drinking water to local communities.
Long ago, Native American tribes traveled trails near this lake to move between their settlements and the Connecticut River. The lake was later created as a water supply and has served local communities for many decades.

The lake operates under a lottery system for registered boaters, and kayaks are not permitted at all. These strict rules ensure the water remains safe for the drinking water supply.
