Rock Creek Station

Rock Creek Station is a protected area spanning about 350 acres with prairie hilltops, wooded creek valleys, and ravines in Jefferson County. The land displays deep wagon ruts carved into the ground by travelers on pioneer routes.

This station was founded in 1858 and provided essential support to pioneers traveling westward on established routes. The site became a major stopping point as thousands of people and wagons moved through the region.

The reconstructed buildings show how people lived and worked at this frontier stop during the 1800s. Visitors can observe daily tasks like cooking, crafts, and animal care as they would have happened then.

The park is open from dawn to dusk throughout the year for visitors to explore. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as the terrain is hilly with uneven ground in many areas.

Visitors can see deep wagon ruts carved by thousands of travelers on the Oregon and California trails, which remain visible in the ground today. These natural grooves mark the exact paths where people and animals passed daily long ago.
