Built in 1785 to serve the West Parish of Salisbury, the meeting house received President George Washington during his northward journey in 1789.
The interior preserves the complete original elements including high pulpit, marbleized columns, box pews with inscribed graffiti, and traditional foot warmers.
The property operates as a museum under Historic New England management, welcoming visitors on specific days throughout the year with admission fees.
The building maintains its original condition without electricity, plumbing, or heating systems, making it a genuine representation of 18th-century New England architecture.
