The Newburyport Public Library occupies a renovated 18th-century Federalist mansion with an additional modern wing at 94 State Street, offering 102,000 volumes to visitors.

Founded in 1854 by Josiah Little, the library first opened in 1855 at City Hall with 5,750 books before moving to its current location in the Tracy Mansion.
