Saint Augustine Church

Saint Augustine Church is a Greek Revival structure in New Diggings, Wisconsin. The exterior walls are covered with 9-inch wooden planks designed to mimic stone blocks, while the interior preserves original wooden pews and an ornate altar rail.

Father Samuel Mazzuchelli, an Italian priest, arrived in America in 1828 and established the parish in 1835. The current building was constructed in 1844 according to his design.

The church holds significance for the Italian-American community that gathered here under Father Mazzuchelli's leadership. Inside, the original wooden pews and ornate altar rail reflect the worship traditions of early settlers.
