The Gothic-style Saint Boniface Church features a 200-foot spire, large stained glass windows measuring 30 feet high, and walls reaching 35 feet.
German American families established the parish in the 1840s, with Bishop Mathias Loras celebrating the first Mass at Hermann Wiechmann's home on January 6, 1846.
The church contains five wooden altars, including the main altar crafted by E. Hackner of La Crosse, Wisconsin, which cost $5,000 during its construction.
The church partners with Ss. Peter and Paul Parish in Petersburg, Iowa, sharing resources and pastoral services for the local Catholic community.
The Schuelke organ from 1891 remains as one of the few intact instruments from this manufacturer still functioning in its original location.
