The Sanshin Zen Community sits in a dedicated structure at 1726 South Olive Street, offering daily meditation sessions and Buddhist teachings throughout the year.
Shohaku Okumura established the Sanshin Zen Community in 1996, following his role as interim abbot at the Minnesota Zen Meditation Center from 1992.
The center follows Soto Zen traditions, integrating zazen meditation practices with the study of Dogen Zenji teachings in the lineage of Kosho Uchiyama.
Visitors can participate in daily meditation sessions, monthly retreats, and three-month ango periods, with guidance from experienced teachers and practitioners.
The name Sanshin represents three essential qualities for Zen students: magnanimous mind, parental mind, and joyful mind, as taught by Eihei Dogen.
