Seven Lakes State Park is a state park in southeastern Michigan, made up of several connected lakes surrounded by forest and gently rolling land. The park has campgrounds, hiking trails, boat rentals, and fishing spots spread across the area.
The land became a state park in 1969 after developers sold it to Michigan, and several small lakes were joined together through dam construction. The result was a large recreation area that has served the region ever since.
Picnic shelters near the water draw families and neighbors together for meals and celebrations throughout the year. The lakeside areas are used by people of all ages, giving the park a relaxed and social feel on weekends and holidays.
Entry requires a Recreation Passport, which also gives access to other state parks across Michigan. Trails and facilities are well marked, making it easy to get around whether you walk, hike, or use a boat.
Visitors are allowed to use metal detectors in specific zones to search for historical objects, which is an unusual feature for a state park. Tiger muskies, a fish bred by crossing two species, also live in the lakes and can sometimes be spotted near the surface.
