Smith Mountain Lake State Park

Smith Mountain Lake State Park spans about 1,200 acres with roughly 14 miles of trails through wooded areas, offering views across a large reservoir. The grounds feature swimming and boating facilities along with year-round cabin rentals and a seasonal campground.

The park was established in 1983 after a power company donated the land in the mid-1960s following the completion of a major dam project. This development was part of infrastructure growth in the Appalachian region during that period.
