Speed the Plough

The main house exhibits a two-story brick structure featuring a central hall plan and symmetrical proportions aligned with Greek Revival standards.

William Dearing managed the farm from 1820 to 1862, with fourteen enslaved individuals working the land before the property transformed into an orchard in 1915.

The property contains multiple cemeteries, including the Dearing family plot with a wrought iron fence and two separate African-American burial grounds.

The site incorporates numerous buildings constructed between 1799 and 1940, including a springhouse, bank barn, tenant house, and pump house.

Rock Cottage, added in 1933, contains a great hall with exposed roof beams and connects to the basement through a spiral stairway.
