Stokesville Observatory, Astronomical observatory in Mount Solon, Virginia, US
The Stokesville Observatory contains a 16-foot-diameter silo room with a 14-inch Celestron Compustar telescope under a powered Ash observatory dome.
James Madison University acquired management of the observatory to enhance astronomical research and educational opportunities in the Shenandoah Valley region.
Local astronomy clubs, including the Shenandoah Valley Stargazers, conduct regular meetings and observations at the facility throughout the year.
Eight powered telescope mounting piers encircle the main building, enabling multiple observers to conduct simultaneous celestial observations.
The observatory maintains an adjacent educational room filled with astronomy displays and materials for instructional purposes.
