Teatown Lake Reservation, Nature reserve in Westchester County, United States.
Teatown Lake Reservation is a nature reserve spanning about 1,000 acres (400 hectares) in Westchester County with forests, wetlands, and grasslands. A 2-acre (0.8 hectare) island within the reserve supports over 230 species of native wildflowers.
The reservation began in 1962 when a family donated 245 acres to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. This gift created the foundation for a protected space that has grown into a center for nature research and education.
The Nature Center connects visitors with local ecosystems through guided walks and interactive exhibits about regional wildlife. Programs focus on observing and understanding the plants and animals that make this landscape their home.
Visitors can explore 15 miles (24 kilometers) of interconnected trails suitable for hiking, jogging, and snowshoeing in winter months. The paths allow access to different habitats and landscapes throughout the year.
The site hosts an annual EagleFest where visitors watch eagles in their natural habitat and see live birds of prey in demonstrations. This event showcases the raptor species that inhabit the reservation throughout the year.
