Croton Point Park, Waterfront park in Croton-on-Hudson, United States
Croton Point Park is a 500-acre peninsula where the Croton and Hudson rivers meet, offering woodland trails, sandy beaches, camping areas, and boat launches for various outdoor activities. The site contains picnic grounds, walking paths of different lengths, and areas for wildlife watching throughout its grounds.
In the 1800s, the Underhill family grew grapes, watermelons, and apples while operating a brickyard that supplied materials for local construction. The land later served as a county waste site before being transformed into a public park.
The park hosts the annual Hudson River Sloop Clearwater festival, drawing visitors for music performances, environmental education, and celebrations that highlight the community's deep connection to the river.
The park has multiple entry points, parking areas at various locations, and trails suitable for different fitness levels. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water with you, especially if planning longer walks through the grounds.
The park preserves old wine cellars from a former manor that visitors can discover while exploring the grounds. These underground structures are remnants of the region's past wine-making tradition.
