The College of New Jersey, Public university in Ewing Township, United States.
The College of New Jersey is a public institution of higher education in Ewing Township, New Jersey, spread across a spacious site with brick buildings in Georgian Revival style. Lakes and woodland areas run through the grounds, creating shifting views along the connecting paths between academic halls and residential quarters.
The institution was established in 1855 as a training center for teachers under the name New Jersey State Normal School. During the 1930s it moved from Trenton to Ewing Township and evolved over the decades into a broader academic establishment.
The grounds are organized by thematic zones, with clusters of buildings bringing together different academic branches and linked by footpaths and small bodies of water. Students and faculty use the open spaces between structures for studying and informal gatherings.
Seven academic schools are distributed across the site, offering courses and programs from bachelor to master level. Accommodation ranges from residence halls inside the core grounds to apartment complexes near the edges of the site.
The David Sarnoff Museum on site presents exhibits about the founder of NBC and features rotating displays of work by students and professional artists. The student newspaper The Signal has been published continuously since the institution was founded in 1855, making it among the oldest such publications in the state.
