The two-story house at 77 Jefferson Avenue contains restored period rooms with original furnishings, photographs, and personal items from the Thurber family collection.
James Thurber and his family resided in this 1873 Victorian house from 1913 to 1917 while he attended Ohio State University as a student.
The house operates as a museum and literary center, offering writing workshops, author readings, and educational programs for both children and adults.
Visitors can explore the museum through self-guided tours from Tuesday to Sunday between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, with an entrance fee of 5 dollars.
The residence inspired multiple stories by Thurber, including The Night the Ghost Got In, based on unexplained sounds he heard in November 1915.
