Motorists Mutual Building, Office skyscraper in Columbus, United States
The Motorists Mutual Building is an office tower with 21 floors rising approximately 286 feet (87 meters) in downtown Columbus. The bronze-tinted glass facade defines the streetscape along East Broad Street with its distinctive appearance.
The building opened in 1973 as headquarters for an insurance company designed by architects Brubaker and Brandt. In 2019 the company rebranded to Encova following a merger, and the building took on the new name.
The building represents the growth of Columbus business district, maintaining corporate offices while residential areas expanded toward suburban neighborhoods.
The building features six elevators to handle daily traffic circulation efficiently. Early fireproofing implementation using non-asbestos materials throughout the structure meets modern safety standards.
BrickStreet Insurance merged with Motorists Mutual Insurance Group leading to the building name change to Encova in 2019. This corporate consolidation became a turning point for the structure's identity in the downtown business district.
