Memorial Hall

Memorial Hall is an administrative building in downtown Columbus that houses a large auditorium within its structure. Dating from the early 1900s, it features marble staircases and classical architectural details that give the space its distinctive character.

The structure was built between 1905 and 1906 and was the second-largest auditorium in the United States at that time. Its completion marked a major milestone in Columbus's development as a cultural hub.

The building reflects early 20th-century architectural style and carries the history of countless public gatherings within its walls. It served as a venue for performances, political discussions, and religious ceremonies that shaped community life for many decades.

The building is easily accessible due to its central location and clear signage throughout the area. Visitors should note that administrative functions now occupy the space and viewing access may be limited to certain areas.

From 1964 to 1999, the building housed COSI, a science and industry museum that drew visitors from across the region. The institution later moved to a different location, leaving behind an important chapter in the building's story.
