St. Joseph Cathedral

St. Joseph Cathedral is a Gothic Revival cathedral in Columbus, Ohio, extending about 56 meters in length with three entrances along its Broad Street facade. The structure features thick stone walls that define its interior character.

Construction began in 1866 when members of St. Patrick's Parish launched the project to support their growing community. The building rose as a response to expanding needs in the mid-1800s.

Oil paintings displayed in shallow wall niches show Christ as a teacher, with the Annunciation scene and angels depicted throughout. These religious artworks shape the visual experience as you move through the interior space.

The building welcomes visitors for masses, ceremonies, and personal visits during regular hours. Its downtown location makes it easy to reach and offers good walkability for those exploring the area.

The original design called for two towers that would reach 95 and 61 meters in height, but both remain incomplete, creating the distinctive silhouette seen today. This unfinished element catches the eye immediately when approaching from the street.
