Tri-County Fish and Wildlife Area, Protected wildlife area in Kosciusko County, United States.
Tri-County Fish and Wildlife Area is a protected nature reserve in Kosciusko County featuring multiple natural lakes, forests, wetlands, and open fields. The site contains several distinct landscape types that create different habitats for animals and plants throughout the seasons.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources established this conservation area in 1951 to protect wildlife habitats. A dam built in 1963 altered water management and expanded aquatic habitats for fish and waterfowl.
The preserve lets visitors observe native wildlife and forest life in their natural habitats throughout the year. Several viewing points are positioned to help people spot birds, deer, and other woodland creatures without disturbing them.
The reserve is open around the clock with free parking at multiple entry points along State Road 13. Well-maintained paths cross the property, making walking and biking practical throughout the year.
The property contains ten natural lakes with depths reaching 75 feet, supporting diverse fish populations including bass, bluegill, and pike. These deep lakes remain partially ice-free through winter in certain areas, allowing for rare birdwatching opportunities during cold months.
