Van Alstyne House

Van Alstyne House is an early residence in Canajoharie dating to before 1730. The building features a distinctive steep roof design, multiple living rooms in the main section, and a frame addition that extends from the back.

The house was built before 1730 and served as a gathering place for local leaders during the American Revolution. The community used the location to meet and make important decisions during that turbulent period.

The house carries the name of a family that lived in this part of the Mohawk Valley for generations. Visitors can see how the rooms are arranged and understand how people organized their daily lives in this region during the 1700s.
