Constructed in 1899 upon foundations from 1874, the building served as the W.H. Smith Hardware Company headquarters until the 1980s in Parkersburg.
The building now functions as the Oil and Gas Museum, preserving industrial artifacts and documenting the commercial development of West Virginia.
Located at 119 3rd Street in Parkersburg, the museum welcomes visitors daily between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM throughout the week.
The structure earned recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003 for its architectural features and connection to local commerce.
