Constructed between 1932 and 1934 during the Great Depression, the building initially served both as a federal courthouse and main post office for Norfolk.
The courthouse interior displays numerous Art Deco elements, including detailed craftsmanship in aluminum, bronze, and marble throughout its public spaces.
Located at 600 Granby Street, the courthouse contains multiple courtrooms and continues to function as an active federal judicial facility.
The exterior walls combine pink granite, black marble, tan limestone, and buff-colored brick, creating distinct color patterns across the facade.
