West Hartford Reservoir is a water facility in Connecticut comprising six main reservoirs, with the largest covering about 140 acres. The complex sits within more than 3,000 acres of forest with over 30 miles of marked trails made of pavement and gravel.
The reservoirs were built in the early 1900s to supply water to the region. They remain an active part of the water supply system today and are managed by the Metropolitan District Commission.

Access is available daily from sunrise to sunset, with gates closing 30 minutes before sunset. Arriving early or on weekday mornings helps avoid crowds, and visitors should bring water and wear appropriate footwear for walking.
The Metacomet Trail, a section of the New England National Scenic Trail, passes through the area with rougher terrain leading to elevated points offering views across the water. This provides a more challenging alternative for hikers seeking greater elevation change than the main loop trails.
