The Winn Memorial Library features a 78-foot symmetrical tower, stone-arched fireplace, and multiple reading rooms organized around a central stack area.
Constructed between 1876 and 1879, architect H. H. Richardson designed this Romanesque Revival building following a $140,000 bequest from Charles Bowers Winn.
The building houses the Dr. Thomas J. Glennon Archives containing manuscript collections, photographs, maps, and artifacts documenting Woburn's history since the 1600s.
A 2019 renovation added 30,500 square feet, including a Maker Space, Teen Room, Program Room, climate-controlled Reading Room, and Children's Department.
The library's furniture was constructed from solid oak without screws or nails, specifically designed to complement the architectural elements of the building.
