Winn Memorial Library, Public library in Woburn, United States.
Winn Memorial Library is a public library in Woburn with reading and work spaces arranged around a central book collection area. A 78-foot symmetrical tower and a stone-arched fireplace define both the exterior and interior of the building.
Construction took place between 1876 and 1879 based on a generous donation from Charles Bowers Winn. The renowned architect H. H. Richardson designed the building in the Romanesque Revival style that defined that era.
The building houses archives containing manuscript collections, photographs, maps, and artifacts that document Woburn's past since the 1600s. Visitors can explore local stories and personal documents that show how the community developed over time.
The building is fully accessible and offers areas for different needs, including spaces for children, teens, and a Maker Space for trying out projects. A climate-controlled reading room protects sensitive materials and provides comfortable study conditions.
All the furniture inside was made from solid oak and assembled without any screws or nails. This handcrafted construction method allowed each piece to blend seamlessly with the building's architectural design.
