Woodbridge Green Historic District

Woodbridge Green Historic District is a protected area in Connecticut that spans about 18 acres between Center Road, Newton Road, and Meetinghouse Lane. The area features buildings in Colonial and Classical Revival styles that form the town center.

The area took shape after Woodbridge separated from New Haven in 1784 and established itself as a new community. The construction of the First Congregational Church in 1832 established the current town center and shaped how the space developed.

The center brings together several buildings that show how the community gathered its main institutions in one place. You can see a former schoolhouse, a library, and a fire station that together shape the character of a typical American town green.

The district is located at the intersection of Route 114 and Meetinghouse Lane, making it easy to find and access. The area is walkable and offers municipal facilities and parking near the town hall complex.

The First Congregational Church has a dedicated green space that separates the Greek Revival structure from Meetinghouse Lane and creates a quiet retreat. This landscaped area provides an unexpected contrast to the surrounding street layout.
