World's Largest Round Barn
World's Largest Round Barn, Round barn in Marshfield, Wisconsin, United States
The World's Largest Round Barn is a circular wooden structure measuring 150 feet (45 meters) in diameter and 70 feet (21 meters) in height, designed for exhibitions and events. Wooden bleachers line the central show ring, allowing spectators to view displays arranged in a round configuration.
The barn was built in 1916 using W. W. Clark's design, with construction completed by the Felhofer Brothers. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997, securing its recognition as a significant structure.
The building has hosted the Central Wisconsin State Fair since 1916 and remains central to how the region celebrates its farming heritage. Locals and visitors gather here to experience agricultural traditions that shape community identity.
The building is best explored during daylight hours when interior details and construction features are clearly visible. Allow time to walk around the full perimeter to appreciate the scale and understand how the circular design functions.
The construction of this massive wooden structure was accomplished without scaffolding, showcasing building techniques that were ahead of their time in the early 1900s. This innovative approach made the project more cost-effective while revealing the builders' technical skill.
