Yale School of Drama, Drama school at Yale University in New Haven, United States.
Yale School of Drama is a graduate theater training institution at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. The programs cover acting, directing, design, dramaturgy, playwriting, stage management, and theater administration through several years of professional study.
The institution grew out of the Yale Dramatic Association, which was founded in 1900. Edward Harkness supported the project financially in 1924, enabling the establishment of the independent institute.
The Yale Cabaret opened in 1968 as a space for experimental productions by students in an informal setting. The performances there often show new theatrical forms and are developed and performed by fellow students themselves.
The buildings are located on the Yale University campus and are open to the public only during public performances. The shows usually take place in the evening and can be booked in advance.
A donation by the David Geffen Foundation of 150 million dollars has enabled all full-time students to study for free since 2021. This support covers all tuition fees throughout the entire course of study.
