Mount Adams

Mount Adams is a summit in the Adirondack Mountains reaching about 3,520 feet with steep rocky slopes on its approach. The peak offers views across the surrounding High Peaks region and dense forest landscape.

The Adirondack Mountain Club built a fire tower on the summit in 1922 to monitor forests across the region. This structure became part of a larger network that helped protect the High Peaks from forest fires.

The fire tower at the summit reflects the region's conservation history and how locals worked to protect these forests. Today, visitors can see how this structure connected people to the landscape they depended on.

The main trail begins at the Upper Works parking area and climbs through forest before reaching rocky terrain near the summit. Wear sturdy boots and bring plenty of water, as the hike involves steady elevation gain and exposed rock.

The fire tower at the summit has been restored and allows visitors to climb inside for panoramic views in all directions. Few places in the region offer this combination of walkable access and far-reaching sightlines across multiple peaks.
