Neff's Mill Covered Bridge, Covered bridge in West Lampeter Township, Pennsylvania.
Neff's Mill Covered Bridge is a covered wooden structure spanning Pequea Creek in West Lampeter Township. The bridge uses double Burr arch trusses reinforced with steel hanger rods to support its interior and exterior red surfaces.
The structure was first built in 1824 by Christian Brackbill and underwent major reconstruction in 1875 by James C. Carpenter. It received its National Register listing in 1980.
The bridge displays 19th-century woodworking methods that remain visible to visitors today. Its timber structure and protective covering show traditional building techniques that were common in rural Pennsylvania during that era.
The bridge is located on Penn Grant Road east of U.S. Route 222 with limited vertical clearance. Vehicles taller than standard cars should avoid this route as overhead space is restricted.
This is the narrowest covered bridge in Lancaster County with a deck width of just under 12 feet (3.7 m). Its tight dimensions were designed to minimize the span needed across Pequea Creek.
