Train Collectors Association

The Train Collectors Association displays extensive collections of model trains across multiple scales with operating layouts and detailed miniature landscapes. The exhibition features dozens of functional track systems representing different eras and regions.

The association was founded in 1954 starting in Yardley, Pennsylvania, before moving to its current location in Strasburg. The relocation allowed for larger exhibition space and better preservation of the growing collections.

The museum maintains standardized grading systems that collectors and dealers use throughout North America to evaluate toy train condition and value.

Visitors can take their time exploring the various exhibit areas and operating layouts at their own pace. It helps to wander between halls and spend time on detailed scenes since many small details are easy to overlook.

The site houses the National Toy Train Library, a specialized research facility documenting global toy train development and manufacturing. This collection offers collectors and historians rare materials and information about the origins of various trains.
