1000 Park Avenue is a 13-story brown brick residential building located at the corner of Park Avenue and East 84th Street on the Upper East Side. The structure houses 70 apartments with layouts ranging from four to ten rooms.
Architect Emery Roth designed this Gothic-inspired structure for developers Bing & Bing, completed in 1916. The building emerged during a period of substantial residential expansion across Manhattan.
The carved medieval figures near the main entrance depict the Bing brothers who developed the building. These ornate details remain visible to visitors passing through the lobby today.
The building provides doorman service, a fitness facility, and bicycle storage for residents and guests. Its location near Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art offers convenient access to major attractions.
Author Nicola Kraus wrote her novel 'The Nanny Diaries' while living here, sparking conversations among residents about character inspirations. This literary connection brought the building attention from readers worldwide.
