Holy Trinity Church Rectory and Convent
Holy Trinity Church Rectory and Convent, Religious institutional complex in Bloomington, United States.
The Holy Trinity Church Rectory and Convent is an institutional complex with Romanesque architecture located at the corner of Main and Chestnut Streets in Bloomington. Rounded arches, decorative arcading, and substantial masonry work define the exterior appearance of the entire complex.
Following a devastating fire in 1932, the community quickly secured funding for reconstruction. The new Art Deco building was completed in 1933, replacing the earlier structures.
The chapel houses a significant pipe organ installed in 1934 by the respected Hinners Organ Company, which served as the centerpiece of worship services for many decades. This instrument reflects the craftsmanship tradition of the early 1900s and continues to define the interior character today.
The complex sits at a central intersection in the downtown area and is easily accessible on foot. The site is visible from the street and can be explored from outside.
The building houses the final large pipe organ ever manufactured by the Hinners Organ Company of Pekin, Illinois, installed in 1934. This historical distinction makes the site especially significant for music historians and organ enthusiasts.
